Galle Fort

Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 423 years maintains a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka.

Adam's Peak (Sripada)

Adam's Peak (also Sri Pada; Sinhalese Samanalakanda - "butterfly mountain", and also "Sri Paadaya"; Tamil Sivanolipatha Malai , is a 2,243 m (7,359 ft) tall conical mountain located in central Sri Lanka.It is well known for the Sri Pada, i.e., "sacred footprint",ArabicJabal Adam جبل آدم a 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) rock formation near the summit, which in Buddhist tradition is held to be the footprint of Buddha, in Hindu tradition that of Shiva and in Islamic and Christian tradition that of Adam, or that of St. Thomas. In Islamic tradition it is the site where Adam fell to earth and where his footprint can be found.

Sigiriya

The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres (660ft) high.

Atamasthana In Anuradhapura (Historical Places)

Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi (Sinhala:ජය ශ්‍රි මහා බොධිය) is a Sacred Fig tree in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It is said to be the southern branch from the historical Bodhi tree Sri Maha Bodhi at Bodh Gaya in India under which Lord Buddha attained Enlightenment. It was planted in 288 BC, and is the oldest living human-planted tree in the world with a known planting date. Today it is one of the most sacred relics of the Buddhists in Sri Lanka and respected by Buddhists all over the world.

Dalada Perahara

Esala Perahera (the procession of Esala) is the grand festival with elegant costumes held in July and August in Kandy, Sri Lanka. This historical procession (perahera) is held annually to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Budda, which is housed at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.
